Samsung demos 82” 2160p HDTV

Samsung yesterday pulled the sheets off this monster of a plasma, now on show at the Society for Information Display (SID) International Symposium in Los Angeles. With a diametre of 82 inches, and a resolution 2160p (double the current Australian broadcast maximum), you can look forward to see this at your local JB Hifi…in around 3 years.

Three detained for high-tech exam cheating

Chinese officials have detained three students sitting their University entrance exams, after they were found to be in possesion of wireless Microphones.

Exams officials first became suspicious after a small bus parked at the front of the exam centre remained there for sometime.

Inside the officials found three men staring at computer screens and communicating by walkie talkies.

“The three had charged the student 12,000 yuan ($1,500) for the service, while so called ‘cheating shoes’ which contain wireless transmitters sell for around 2000 yuan each.

Take a close look at the eBay listing below. Looks pretty normal right? But clicking on that ‘buy it now’ button will cost you a lot more than you bargained for. Thats because in the latest attempt to fool an increasingly phishing educated eBay audience, scammers have found a way to code a jpeg image over eBay’s buy it now button. In fact the whole area you can see below is one big jpeg, which once clicked will redirect you to a phishing site, which most people would assume is still eBay. After that you complete your payment, and wham-o, you just fell for the oldest trick in the 21st Century’s book. Pretty clever really.

Reward offered for kidnapped Homer Simpson

Cartoon character Homer Simpson has been kidnapped in Malaysia and Hollywood is offering a reward of 1,000 ringgit ($A346) for his safe return.

Film studio Twentieth Century Fox announced the bounty after a 1.2-metre statue of Homer was stolen from a cinema display in a mall in the Malaysian capital.

Motion Picture Association country manager Nor Hayati Yahaya says it was one of a set of outsize replicas of the family being used to advertise The Simpsons Movie, set for release in Malaysia next month.

“This guy is really dumb, because he must know that in a mall there are lots of surveillance cameras,” he said.

“We got footage of his car, plate number, his face, everything.”

The New Straits Times newspaper published grainy closed-circuit TV pictures showing two men bundling Homer out of the mall before he was driven off in the boot of a car.

I found this sign in China Town, Sydney last night. I’m not sure what they’re getting at. No men named Bill, or no payment reminders accepted? One thing is sure, don’t mess with them, or they’ll get the fuzz onto you. I can only assume they are Apple fanboys.
